The Ironing and Other Experiments..

The ironed fabrics look very pretty - colours are a little bit Monet on the whole I think - not quite what I was expecting but delightful just the same. Very happy to welcome them into my stash......of course we can always try again - we still have plenty of the ingredients left between us........

Below - some small pieces of tone-on-tone overdyed. (The backs are as good or better than the fronts.)

A couple of pieces of an open-weave muslin.

Two pieces  cut off the shibori style fabric painting.  (The original fabric paint acted as a resist so both the painting and the dyeing are visibly sharing the stage.)

Next, first attempt at sun-printing. Using borrowed paint specifically designed for the task first. The fabric was taped out flat and brushed with a wet sponge brush then the paint applied.

Lace and cut-outs were placed on top then it was moved to a (windless) sunny spot to dry.

The results.........

And some pretty painted lace as a by-product....

Then a couple of samples using transparent fabric paint also (so the label says) used for the same process.

The yellow sample was much less distinct but empty spaces provide possibilitiesfor adding printing..............

Lastly, a bit more fun turning this........

.......into this......

........using this.......

So pretty - next time I might try a little less regular grid sewing and FMQ it.....
